Ways to give
There are several ways to support – donate to existing funds and campaigns, or create a new scholarship fund
The University of Tartu Foundation awards scholarships to students and employees of the University of Tartu to fulfill important goals. Each donation allows us to support students' continued education, open new opportunities, share recognition, and foster a strong academic future for the University of Tartu's research community.
The scholarship funds welcome donations. You can choose the one linked with your interests and make a one-time donation by selecting "Give" next to the appropriate fund.
Support campaigns allow you to donate to the widest possible target group. This is a good opportunity if you have a general desire to support the University of Tartu.
Become a permanent donator to the University of Tartu Endowment Fund
Permanent donations are welcomed to the University of Tartu Foundation's bank accounts. Please include the name of the fund you would like to support or specify the purpose of the donation:

- SEB pank EE471010102026293006

Create a scholarship fund
Starting from a one-time donation of 50,000 euros, it is possible to establish an investable named scholarship fund, the assets of which will be managed by the foundation, and the scholarships will be paid out of the profit from the investment of the assets.
With an annual donation of at least 5,000 euros, it is possible to establish a directly funded named scholarship fund, the assets of which will not be managed by the foundation and which the supporter will finance with an agreed frequency, for example once a year. The prerequisite for establishing a fund is that the founder supports the fund in the amount of at least 50,000 euros over a period of 10 years.
With a one-time donation of less than 50,000 euros or an annual donation of less than 5,000 euros, it is possible to establish a directly funded scholarship fund, which bears the name of the fund's objective or target group, but not the name of the founder (for example, "History Students Scholarship Fund"). However, the founder's name is mentioned in the fund's rules or statutes. Alternatively, it is possible to donate to an existing fund within the same limits.

Collect donations for your anniversary
By asking to support an existing foundation or a foundation you have established in the support fund instead of gifts, you have the opportunity to support the University of Tartu and research and teaching, academic family and students in an area that is important to you.
Turn your legacy into a memorial fund
A legacy made on the basis of a will is one way to perpetuate your name for future generations, as well as share the values you have created with the future generations. Charitable legacy is a good practice widely spread in the Western world. You do not have to leave all your assets to relatives, you can also give something back to society. Many have received a university education for free - making your will to the university is an opportunity to express gratitude for providing the skills and knowledge necessary for life and thereby help young students achieve their goals.
With a will, you can bequeath all your assets or specific items to the university (a sum of money, a library, valuable art, real estate, stocks, etc.). Bequest of a specific asset is called a bequest. A will can be drawn up by a notary, who will help you write down all the instructions correctly. The last will and testament can also be drawn up from beginning to end by yourself, or if it is drawn up by someone else, it must be signed by the testator in the presence of two impartial witnesses. Such home wills are valid for 6 months and need to be constantly renewed. In the will, it would be correct to name the University of Tartu Foundation as the heir instead of the University of Tartu, since the foundation's purpose is to raise funds to support the development of the university.
The will can specify the purpose of the charitable inheritance (for example, supporting students in a certain field). At the request of the testator, a separate special-purpose memorial fund can be established from the assets of the will or the assets can be directed to an already existing fund. It can also be left to the university to decide how to use the assets. If desired, an executor (trustee) can be appointed in the will, who has the right to monitor whether the inheritance is used for its intended purpose.
When resolving the inheritance matter, the notary will contact the university and inform about the right of inheritance. If the will is formalized abroad, the competent authority of the relevant country will contact the university. See more about inheritance and bequests at parimine.notar.ee.
