The Valda and Bernard Õun Memorial Fund was established to support and recognize biomedical research at the University of Tartu. This year, the €5,000 scholarship was awarded to Keerthana Chithanathan, a 4th-year PhD student in neuroscience at the University of Tartu, whose research focuses on the roles of microRNA-146 (miR-146a and miR-146b) in brain health, specifically in relation to neuroinflammation, neurogenesis, and microglial function.

The global technology company Wise awarded for the third a scholarship to an outstanding woman student of the Computer Science Institute of the University of Tartu via the University of Tartu Foundation. This semester, second-year Bachelor's student Säde Pesti won the scholarship, receiving €2,000 along with mentoring from top specialists in the field.

Wise, the global technology company building the best way to move money around the world announces today a new scholarship recognizing and supporting women students. All undergraduate and graduate women students of the University of Tartu's Institute of Computer Science can apply for one of the three €1,000 scholarships. In addition, Wise will create opportunities for the scholarship holders to network and explore future career options.

Companies and individuals helped raise nearly 69,000 euros for the University of Tartu scholarship fund for Ukrainian students. As a result, 81 scholarships will now be awarded to support Ukrainian students. 

On November 30th, the University of Tartu Foundation awarded the recipients of the fall 2017 scholarships. During the fall semester, 67 students will be supported in total from 31 different funds in the total amount of 155 000 euros (photo gallery).

On June 14th, the University of Tartu Foundation awarded the recipients of the spring 2017 scholarships. During the spring semester, 65 students will be supported in total from 26 different funds in the total amount of 102 632 euros (photo gallery).
