Wise and University of Tartu Foundation launch a scholarship to encourage women to study IT
Wise, the global technology company building the best way to move money around the world announces today a new scholarship recognizing and supporting women students. All undergraduate and graduate women students of the University of Tartu's Institute of Computer Science can apply for one of the three €1,000 scholarships. In addition, Wise will create opportunities for the scholarship holders to network and explore future career options.
"We are focusing on supporting women students, as today there are still significantly fewer women than men working in technical positions. We want to encourage more women to see their future in technology," explained Sandra Horma, Strategy Lead in FinCrime Operations at Wise.
"It is amazing to see the number of women students in Computer Science study programmes constantly increasing. By supporting students we can help this trend move forward even faster," added Horma.
Today, women students make up 30% of the total number of students at the University of Tartu’s Institute of Computer Science. In the last five years, this number has increased by 4%.
In addition to financial support, the cooperation between Wise and the University of Tartu Foundation helps to build a useful network for students and open potential career opportunities for them.
To apply for the scholarship, students need to submit an application and a letter of motivation to the University of Tartu Foundation. Additional information about the scholarship and application process can be found on the website of University of Tartu Foundation.
Applications can be submitted until 10 January 2023.
