The 2025 Andres and Mari Tarand Scholarship
Description of Scholarship:
The aim of the scholarship is to contribute to improving the quality of education by supporting outstanding master's students at the University of Tartu who conduct their research at the border of different scientific disciplines.
Value/Amount:
The minimum amount of one scholarship is 2,000 euros, the amount and number of scholarships are approved by the foundation's board.
Full Eligibility Requirements:
The scholarship is open to Master's students at the University of Tartu who conduct their research at the border of different scientific disciplines or apply knowledge from one field to understand what is happening in another.
The scholarship is awarded based on the academic level and content of the research and the applicant's professional and academic success.
To apply, sumbit an electronic scholarship application, which includes:
- an overview of the applicant's social and research activities;
- a justification for applying for the scholarship;
- a budget for the use of the scholarship;
- a letter of recommendation from the research supervisor;
- the applicant's CV (attached as an attachment);
- an overview of the research work, which highlights the connections between the fields, or a two-page essay with the same purpose (add as an attachment);
- a transcript of records (ask a signed document from your faculty's Academic Affairs Specialist, add as an attachment);
- other materials deemed necessary by the candidate.

Scholarship will be awarded:
The scholarship will be paid out after signing the contract with the University of Tartu Foundation.
