Maaja Vadi Family History Scholarship 2026
Scholarship Description:
The aim of the scholarship is to support the efforts of the University of Tartu community –
staff and students – to learn about their family history, genealogy or the activities of their predecessors using various methods and to share the research results more widely. It does not have to be scientific research.
Number and amount of scholarships:
Scholarships of up to 4,000 euros will be awarded. The size of the scholarship and the number of recipients will be determined by the scholarship committee.
Application requirements:
All employees and students of the University of Tartu can apply for the scholarship.
The scholarship is awarded based on the applicant's motivation, the thoughtfulness of the action plan and the achievable goal.
To apply for the scholarship, an electronic scholarship application must be submitted, including:

- a letter of motivation describing your previous experience in family history research;
- an action plan describing how you wish to use the scholarship, what methods will be used for research, and how the results will be shared (add to the block Overview of specialised scientific activity or reasearch);
- a budget for the use of the scholarship (indicative financial costs).
