The aim of the Swedbank AS scholarship is to support master's students at the School of Economics and Business Administration who have shown outstanding results in their studies, social activities and whose research topics are related to the future issues of the financial sector. Both scholarship holders are studying in the Quantitative Economics curriculum.

The committee highlighted Anna Pobedova's strong academic results, outstanding activity and scientific ambition. Pobedova has graduated cum laude, has been an active teaching assistant and has been active in the international student organization ESN. Her master's thesis focuses on cryptocurrencies and she sees her future in doctoral studies and research in Estonia.

Pobedova considers receiving the scholarship as a meaningful recognition that provides vital support for continuing her academic journey: "It gives me the confidence and means to fully focus on my studies and research in finance and reinforces my determination to contribute to the field."

Eva Spelman stood out in the committee's assessment for her field-specific contribution and practical experience. She has completed an internship at the Economic Research Department of the Bank of Estonia, where she participated in the decomposition of inflation in the Baltic countries.

Spelman wants to use the scholarship to support her academic year in Belgium, as she is studying in the double degree program of the University of Tartu and Ghent University. “The scholarship supports my academic development and gives me the opportunity to fully focus on my studies in an international environment,” said Spelman.

The committee noted that both scholarship holders are very strong candidates who combine deep academic knowledge with practical commitment and represent future contributors to the development of the Estonian financial sector and economy.

The University of Tartu Foundation thanks Swedbank AS for the support, which helps to strengthen cooperation between the university and entrepreneurship, and inspire young economists to apply their knowledge for the benefit of society.
